Editorial Policy
DGN EV exists to give electric vehicle drivers clear, accurate and useful answers. This page explains how we choose topics, how we research and check our guides, how we keep them up to date and how we stay independent.
Who writes our guides
DGN EV is a small, independent publication operated from Türkiye. Our articles are published under the DGN EV Editorial Team byline because each guide is researched, written, checked and updated as a team effort rather than by a single author. We are not owned by or affiliated with any car maker, dealer, charging network or energy company. You can read more about us on our About page.
How we choose topics
We write about the questions real drivers ask before and after switching to an electric car: charging at home and on the road, battery life, real-world range, running costs, maintenance and individual models. We prioritise practical questions where clear, well-sourced information is genuinely useful, and we avoid sensational headlines.
How we research and fact-check
Every guide is built on primary and authoritative sources. Depending on the topic, these include:
- Official data from government agencies and regulators, such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (fueleconomy.gov), the U.S. Department of Energy and its Alternative Fuels Data Center, the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the International Energy Agency, the European Union and UK government bodies.
- Manufacturer information such as official specifications, owner's manuals, warranty documents and press releases.
- Independent testing and research from motoring organisations, consumer testing groups, universities and published studies, and large real-world datasets from fleet and battery-health analysts.
Before publication we check every figure that can change over time – prices, range, charging speeds, battery sizes, warranties, incentives and regulations – against its original source, and we state the date, model year or region a number applies to. When sources disagree, we say so and explain why. Our charts are made by us from the cited data, with the source shown under each chart.
We link to the sources we rely on within each article, and the main ones are listed again under Sources and further reading at the end of the guide.
How we use technology
We use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help with research, drafting, calculations and charts. Every article is reviewed by our team before it is published, every number is checked against the original source, and we never publish content generated automatically without review. Our editorial standards are the same however a draft is produced.
How we keep guides up to date
Electric vehicle prices, models, charging networks and rules change quickly. Each article shows the date it was first published and, when it has been revised, the date it was last updated. We review fast-moving topics such as prices, new battery technology and sales data regularly, and update model guides at least once a year or when a new model year changes the facts.
Corrections
We work hard to get things right, but mistakes can happen. If you spot an error, please tell us through our contact page or by email at info@dgnev.com, ideally with a link to the article and a source. We review every correction request promptly. When we fix a significant factual error, we update the article and its "Updated" date.
Independence and advertising
DGN EV is free to read and is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence over what we write, and we do not accept payment for articles, reviews or positive coverage. We do not currently use affiliate links; if we ever do, they will be clearly labelled. We do not use manufacturers' logos or press photos in our articles.
Our calculators
Our free EV calculators give estimates for general guidance. Each calculator page explains the formula and the assumptions behind it, and you can change the default values to match your car and local prices.
Reader comments
We welcome questions and experiences from readers. Comments are moderated before they appear, links are not allowed, and replies from us are marked "DGN EV · Editorial team". Comments that are off-topic, abusive or promotional are not published.
Not professional advice
Our guides are for general information only and are not financial, legal, electrical or mechanical advice. For decisions about your own vehicle, home charger installation or finances, please consult the manufacturer, a licensed electrician or another qualified professional. See our disclaimer for details.
